Bartender job description

REPORTS TO: Restaurant Manager

SUMMARY: Primary responsibilities include, professionally & courteously serve all patrons while working as a team & ensure quality control of all alcoholic beverages.


  • Must be at least 21 years or older
  • Bartending experience is preferred, but not required
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time & repetitive hand/wrist motions
  • Ability to lift heavy objects above 50lbs
  • Work with hot, cold, & hazardous chemicals/equipment


  • Able to make basic bar cocktails, performs accurate pours
  • Understanding of the full Menu
  • Practices Food & Alcohol Safety, in accordance to the VA Health Department & Virginia ABC
  • Upholds Sanitary & Cleanliness practices for food handling & cleanliness throughout the restaurant


  • Maintains a neat & clean appearance
  • Possesses a strong work ethic
  • Practices honesty & integrity at all times
  • Communicates with team members, other departments, & leadership
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at once
  • Respects & maintains a good working relationship with other team members, departments, & leaders
  • Stays productive at all times throughout the shift

  • Conducts accurate bar inventory at the end of each night
  • Ensures that the bar is stocked at all times, depending on the level of business
  • Adheres to the restaurant cash handling process
  • Detail-oriented in closing procedures
  • Takes responsibility for End-of-Shift/ End-of Day cash variances/errors
